Play on Day 5 began an hour late due to a wet outfield and drizzle.

Jasprit Bumrah, with two balls left from Day 4, made an immediate impact by dismissing New Zealand captain Tom Latham on the last ball of the over.

New Zealand needs 107 runs to win their first Test match in India since 1989.

They faced just four deliveries in their second innings before rain interrupted play again. At 0/0, Tom Latham and Devon Conway will resume batting when play continues.

India fought back in their second innings, scoring 462 after a poor first innings where they were bowled out for just 46.

In response, New Zealand posted 402, leaving India with a narrow lead of 107 runs.

Sarfaraz Khan top-scored for India with 150, while Rishabh Pant narrowly missed out on his century, scoring 99.

New Zealand’s bowlers, Matt Henry and Will O’Rourke, took three wickets each to restrict India in the final session.

Despite the small target, India hopes the pitch will help their bowlers make 107 runs seem difficult for New Zealand.

Interestingly, India successfully defended a target of 107 against Australia in 2004, the lowest they’ve ever defended in a Test match.

Key Highlights:
